Facebook, Twitter, and other forms of social media are not just for keeping in touch with your friends and family. As social media keeps evolving, it is being used even more as a critical marketing/communication tool in business.

Darcy MacPhail recently attended a day-long seminar on social media marketing. “What a learning experience it was,” Darcy says. “Social media is everywhere and is easily accessible. It is so important to not only have a social media footprint, but also to know what forums to use that fit your particular business needs.”

Let’s face it – In this fast-paced business world, if you fall behind you get left behind.

All About Community

It’s all about relationships! In retail, that could not be more true. You must always strive to be part of the communities that you serve. We’re delighted to welcome two new community stations as part of Central’s radio advertising campaigns.

First, we’re pleased to have Central on air in French for the first time. CITU, based in Arichat, NS, are playing regular French commercials. Secondly, we’re also pleased to have CKOA out of Glace Bay, NS on board.

Both stations offer a community feel that will help further Central’s community presence in significant parts of Cape Breton.

CF&A Working With Major Maritime University

We’ve been heavily involved lately with a video project with a major Maritime university. With this particular video project, CF&A are delighted to have our offerings used in distance education. It’s keeping our videographer, Matt Allen, very busy.

“I think the client is going to be very pleased with the final product,” Matt says.

The series of short videos are designed to help new entrepreneurs with issues that that are likely to be faced with, as they attempt to get their businesses off the ground and become successful.

We’re in the late post-production for the first three videos. Stay tuned for further details.

CF&A Promote Annual Peter Wilson Dinner for CAFE

Over the summer, Darcy MacPhail & Kirk Swales were pleased to attend the annual Peter Wilson Dinner, which is the biggest annual fund-raiser for CAFE (Canadian Association of Family Enterprise).

This was the 8th annual event in which CF&A organized a radio PSA campaign in order to promote the event. Our radio partners, seeing the importance of this organization, provided free airplay for these PSAs.

CAFE promotes the growth and well-being of family business. With these turbulent economic times, keeping businesses thriving is of even greater importance.

Michelle LaVigne, CAFE NS Executive Director, as always, is very appreciative of CF&A’s involvement. “We saw banner attendance at this year’s Peter Wilson Dinner,” she says. “Thanks to the CF&A team for helping to make this event so successful.”

The lobster, as always, was wonderful!

Soda Shoppe Gang Still Rockin

They rocked the house at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in Halifax during three sold out shows in September. The Soda Shoppe Gang, over thirty strong and including singers, musicians and support people, have raised over $550,000 for over 22 charities since 1993.

CF&A is the presenting sponsor of the show and company president Clary Flemming was instrumental in securing the prestigious Cohn facility for the group in 1999. The CF&A media group handle all promotion for the show guaranteeing maximum dollars for the charities.
