Yes, that's him. The voice of Sobeys for over 20 years. It was his idea to start an advertising boutique specializing in radio and television back in 1971, one of the first in Canada. His vision created a company that's not so much a business as a family. He produced a radio show while still in high school. He was one of the first Canadians to play professional hockey in Europe. He was an on-air personality for CJCH radio and ATV. He even managed CFDR radio for nine years. He's had a lot of interesting jobs - just don't ask him about the wrestling thing.

» Dan Mailman - Senior Accounts Director

He's only missing the cape. A high energy team leader, Dan is almost always on the phone. He handles media liaison, media buying, and promotion. His day is a whirlwind of activity, and his desk proves it.
Incredibly resourceful, he'll find an answer to any question and a solution to every problem. Does he have time for a life outside work? Well, he's an avid golfer and has always enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he likes spending time with his wife and two children.

» Kirk Swales - Production Manager
|
Kirk rules our studio, the first in North America to deliver commercials to radio stations in MPEG audio format. He controls the entire production process, getting the most out of various vocal talents and ensuring a professional final product. He makes the production and computer delivery of commercials for over 50 radio stations look easy.
Never sick and never late, Kirk is only prone to occasional bouts of golf.

» Gordon Grainger - Creative Director
|
He's a multiple international award winning copywriter (two wins counts as "multiple"), former syndicated columnist (read in Halifax and Brazil), aspiring novelist (he just has to start writing one), and sleep-deprived new father (yes, that's redundant). With stunning good looks, hard-as-marble muscles, and an unsurpassed intellect, he is the creative heart of the company (he also wrote everyone's descriptions). Just a little off-beat, he has never left home without forgetting something (no belt, wrong shoes, didn't shave, no car keys, lunch left on counter...).

» Darcy MacPhail

Being the junior member of the team, you would think Darcy would be picked on a lot. Good thing his hobbies include weight training and power lifting. Around the office he does a lot of heavy lifting as well, handling all aspects of our in-store message system, coordinating public relations initiatives, and contributing creative for several clients. We've thought about getting him his own dictionary, but we're afraid he might someday come across the meaning of the word "no".

» Jared Dawe - Videographer

If it weren't for Clary, Jared would be the most recognized face at CF&A, having been a finalist for a Much Music VJ Search. But amazingly his true talent shines from behind the camera as our videogapher.
He has an eye for setting an evocative scene, the skill to bring it to the screen, and a mind capable of just about anything. He's yet to learn there are some things you just shouldnt do, and that's just the way we like it.

» Craig Flemming - Production Assistant
|
The family connection may have sparked an interest in this business, but it certainly didn't give Craig a job here. He earned it with his talent in the control room. Craig is now the voice of Sobeys ISMs, working with Kirk in all aspects of production and as jingle music co-ordinator.
Besides his studio expertise, he's a business major at St. Mary's
University, was the lead vocalist and songwriter in the Celtic rock
band Barnacle, performing for over a million fans spanning over a
seven year period.

» Eleanor Flemming - Office & Promotions
|
Eleanor works with community and other promotional events and assists with office activities. Eleanor is interested in singing and has been part of a professional singing chorus which has taken her all over North America, singing for thousands of fans.
